What is Needed

Cardiorespiratory Exercise Machine - $7,000

While this looks like a simple treadmill, it is actually a lifesaver that monitors the heart and lungs as the child walks her way to easier breathing.

IVF In Vitro Fertilization (Belgium) - $6,000

Since CF is a genetic disease, there is a 25% chance of having a CF child when both parents are carriers. This procedure tests for the presence of the defective gene, and only the healthy eggs are injected in the mother. To date CFCF has assisted in the birth of 6 healthy children.

Digital Pulse Oximeter - $2,700

Assesses the oxygen saturation level and pulse rate in CF patients.

Air Conditioners- Tadiran - $1,000-$4,000

The sweat glands in CF children do not function properly. They perspire alot and this can lead to dehydration. These air conditioners have kept children out of the hospital!

Inhalation Machines - $300

Administers daily antibiotic treatments - a vital necessity for every CF family. Can be used 2-4 times a day.

Medicine/Food Supplements - $360 a month

Many of the medicines and food supplements that CF children require are not covered by the Medical Plan.

Physical Therapy Treatments - $250 a month

Only a small percentage of these treatments are covered by the Medical Plan.

Swimming Lessons - $200

The exercise and moisture are great for the childrens lungs.

Bicycles - $150

Great exercise, all kids love them.

Subsidies for overall monthly expenses - $100-$800 a month

If we can ease the financial burden then there is more time and energy for the CF child
